Genesis Motors is the luxury vehicle division of the South Korean automobile manufacturer Hyundai Motor Company. The Genesis brand was officially announced as a standalone brand on 4th November 2015. According to a company spokesperson, the three main reasons for making Genesis a standalone brand were a successful seven-year occupation in the luxury car market; the Genesis sedan ranking in the top three sellers in its segment and customer demand for the Genesis brand. Earlier, Hyundai had introduced “Concept Genesis” in March 2007 as a “progressive interpretation of the modern rear-wheel drive sports sedan” and had introduced the Hyundai Genesis in 2008 at the North American International Auto Show.
Its first model the G90 was launched by Genesis as EQ900 in Korea on 9th December 2015. In the United States, Genesis launched it G80 and G90 models in late 2016. The company has appointed its initial dealers as a subset of the existing Hyundai dealers with designated space for Genesis within the dealership’s showrooms only.
